For the ninth year in a row, Pressalit hosted a special Christmas lunch at the drop-in centre “Værestedet” in Aarhus.
Most people associate Christmas with family-time, warmth, and cosiness, but for the homeless visitors of the drop-in centre “Værestedet” in Aarhus, December might look very different.
At Pressalit, we want to contribute to increasing the Christmas spirit at “Værestedet” and help giving the visitors something to look forward to in December. Therefore, we started hosting an annual Christmas lunch for all the homeless people, who want to participate.
The Christmas lunch has been a tradition since 2009, and this year, like the years before, Pressalit’s employees were quick to sign up for a spot on the volunteer team. Pressalit supplied all the ingredients for the traditional Danish Christmas lunch, which was prepared and served by the ten Pressalit volunteers.
Our Kitchen Assistant, Anne Katrine participated in this year’s Christmas dinner for the 3rd year in a row. According to her, the dinner is a positive experience for both the homeless and not least for Pressalit’s employees:
“It is nice being able to give something back. It is a really great event, and we all work together in order to make it a day to remember for everyone who participates”, Anne Katrine says.
Giving back is an essential aspect of Pressalit’s DNA and our focus on social responsibility, as we believe it is important that companies also take action in supporting the more vulnerable groups in society.
The Christmas lunch does not change the lives of the homeless participants, but it does make a difference by providing a positive break in their everyday life. We believe that selfless efforts, regardless of their size, are essential for making the world a better place step by step.
